Nuclearelectrica (https://www.nuclearelectrica.ro/) is the only nuclear power producer in Romania. Founded in 1998, the company specializes in the production of electricity, heat and nuclear fuel. The CNE Cernavoda branch operates 2 CANDU nuclear units, which are among the most efficient units among the over 400 nuclear power plants in the world, a nuclear fuel factory and is in the process of achieving an integrated fuel cycle by acquiring a uranium concentrate processing line, to support the company's long-term investment projects. Nuclearelectrica plays a major role at the national level, contributing over 18% to total energy production and 33% to total CO2-free energy production in Romania. In 2020, Nuclearelectrica was included in the FTSE Russell global indices dedicated to emerging markets. Nuclearelectrica has been listed since 2013 on the main segment of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, with the stock symbol SNN, and is part of the BET benchmark index.
